The GYROTONIC
EXPANSION SYSTEM®
What is The GYROTONIC® Method?
The GYROTONIC® Method is the most unique exercise and rehabilitation program available that addresses the entire person. It aids in opening energy pathways, stimulating the nervous system, increasing range of motion, and improving strength and movement efficiency.
The GYROTONIC® Method emphasizes multiple joint articulations avoiding jarring or compressing actions. Its movement signature contains circular fluid motions that work to simultaneously stretch and strengthen the body. These carefully crafted sequences create balance, efficiency, strength and flexibility. Special attention is paid to increased mobility and stability of the spine, resulting in a better-aligned and balanced body that is stronger, more pliable, and less prone to injury. The GYROTONIC® Method is practiced in a semi-private or private class setting, using GYROTONIC® Equipment and under the instruction of a qualified GYROTONIC® Trainer.

What is GYROTONIC® Equipment?
The curvilinear, carved wood of GYROTONIC® Equipment allows unique freedom of movement. Movement ideally flows uninterrupted and without a beginning or an end, utilizing three dimensions rather than the straight line patterns of more traditional exercise techniques. Because it is designed around the human body, the equipment allows maximum versatility enhance coordination, strength and flexibility. Beloved by dancers GYROTONIC® training also attracts athletes, bodyworkers, individuals needing rehabilitation, the elderly, rapidly growing teenagers, or ordinary people seeking a new approach to health, fitness and overall well-being

Because GYROTONIC® Equipment is highly adjustable, it can be customized to fit each person’s unique physique and size, adapting for things such as height, arm/leg length, shoulder width and range of motion restriction.
PULLY TOWER
The GYROTONIC® Pulley Tower Combination Unit is the result of over thirty years of research and development, and is the most widely used piece of GYROTONIC® Equipment. The Pulley Tower unit provides smooth, even support and resistance via a unique, weighted and sprung pulley system.
The adjustable bench and rotating handle unit can be customized to fit individual proportions, and movement capacities of each user. The design of the equipment supports the full, and natural range of motion of the joints, allowing for three-dimensional, functional movement, and eliminating the sharp starts and stops where injuries often occur.

JUMPING-STRETCHING BOARD
A broad range of exercise sequences and modification options make the Jumping-Stretching Board accessible to people of all levels of strength and flexibility. Due to its versatility, and popularity with clients, this is often the first piece of specialized equipment added to a GYROTONIC® studio.
Jumping-Stretching Board exercise sequences are composed of full body, functional exercises, performed in a variety of body positions kneeling, standing, lying and sitting. A diverse range of standing exercises improve balance, flexibility, coordination, and functional strength.
The ergonomic, gliding platform allows users to experience running, and jumping in a low impact, horizontal plane, with the spine and pelvis fully supported, making it ideal for post injury exercise. Four independent gliding sliders, with optional rotating platforms, provide for challenging strength and coordination sequences. The propeller accessory, and pulley tower feature are also included with this unit.
ARCHWAY
The Archway is considered by many to be the most physically demanding piece of specialized equipment. The vertical, tiered ladder design of the Archway accommodates advanced strength and stability sequences by allowing users to perform exercises in various relationships to gravity - vertical, horizontal, diagonal, and inverted.
The included propeller accessory, and adjustable arms provide standing, and rotation exercises for people of various abilities. The Archway is a great addition to any studio, and is especially popular with dancers, and other athletes wanting a challenge.
GYROTONER®
The Gyrotoner facilitates hip, knee, ankle and shoulder, elbow, wrist articulation in a myriad of different planes. It is an especially useful piece of equipment for mobilizing the thoracic spine, and for coordinating hip, and shoulder movements with the spine.
LEG EXTENSION UNIT
The Leg Extension Unit facilitates functional full body movement sequences that strengthen upper/lower body coordination, and hand/foot coordination. Contra-lateral movement sequences in various planes increase functional strength and stability at all joints. A unique, patented, cam mechanism allows the leg to elongate, as it extends. So, the hip and knee joints are able to move in a fluid, natural range, without compression, increasing stability and strength around those joints. Hand/foot straps, and lightweight aluminum Wing Master accessory included.
What is GYROKINESIS® Method?
GYROKINESIS® exercise is generally practiced in a group setting utilizing a mat and stool, including exercises on the floor, laying or seated and also in standing without the use of GYROTONIC® Equipment.
GYROKINESIS® classes can be adapted to fit anyone's ability. The exercise incorporates many key principles borrowed from yoga, dance, gymnastics, swimming and tai chi, though it is not specifically based on these or any other exercise models. Ideally positions are never statically held, instead aiming for a fluid connection between the postures creating almost a dance that becomes invigorating and toning.
The effect of GYROKINESIS® exercise is an increased range of motion and coordination. The movements take your joints through their full range of motion to increase strength and flexibility while providing a cardiovascular workout similar to a brisk walk. By the end of a GYROKINESIS® session, one's entire system is awakened and brought into greater balance. Focus on the breath stimulates the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems resulting in a sense of calm, wellbeing and mental clarity.
